To celebrate the 23rd edition of Musicalta, my wish was to propose a program that reflects what has been our main commitment during the last twenty three years.
This year, transmission is at the heart of our festival.
Transmission, with the young talents of the Viva Chamber Orchestra – from South Korea – who will open the festivities with a program combining opera arias, film music and korean music. Founded by the Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance and the Disabled People First Movement Headquarters, the Viva Chamber Orchestra consists of young musicians with disabilities. Chosen for their talent, they improve all year long in order to perform on stage as professional musicians and make out of the Viva Chamber Orchestra one of the best professional musical ensemble from South Korea.
Transmission is also about orchestral evenings with Baden-Baden Philharmonic Orchestra, faithful to our festival since all these years, that I have this season the pleasure to conduct; also the Joy of Strings Chamber Orchestra, one of the best of today’s orchestras in Asia, reinforcing again our relationship with Korea; as well as the lightning narrative piano and organ recitals respectively played by Stephanos Thomopoulos and Lionel Avot; Jodyline Gallavardin & Yako Quartet and the not-to-be-missed chamber music evenings, an opportunity to discover, or rediscover some of the world greatest artists, allowing us to live the intimacy of a festival that is one of a kind.
Therefore, we will find at each concert this inextricable link between the academy and the festival.
A heartfelt thank you to our partners, our volunteers, and to you, friends of the festival, for your loyalty, that has been going on for all these years.
