German cellist Valentin Andert has performed extensively as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe and Asia.

Based in South Korea he has taught as a professor of cello and chamber music at Kangnam University’s German School of Music – a cooperative music department with the Musikhochschule “Franz Liszt” Weimar – for several years.

He is currently professor of cello and chamber music at “Kangnam University – Center for Gifted Arts Education” in Yongin – Seoul.

Furthermore, he has been giving cello masterclasses throughout Korea and has served as a jury member on several music competitions.

After receiving lessons from Peter Vogler (HfM “Hanns Eisler” Berlin), Valentin Andert studied cello with Peter Bruns at the University of Music and Theatre “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig, accompanied by masterclasses with Philippe Muller, Wolfgang Boettcher, Anner Bylsma, Miklós Perényi, Arto Noras, the Talich String Quartet and others.

Valentin Andert also received a MA in musicology from Leipzig University and is a devoted music theorist and Schubert scholar.

Besides several guest lectures on Schubert and Beethoven, he currently teaches European art and cultural history as an Invited Professor at Korea University’s Sejong campus.
