Born in Moscow from musician parents, Serguei Milstein learned to play the piano at the age of 5. Two years later, he entered Anaïda Soumbatian’s class at the Moscow Central School of Music.

In 1977, he joined the class of his father, Yakov Milstein, at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory.

Laureate of international piano competitions such as “Le Printemps de Prague”, “Viotti” in Vercelli and the “Tournoi International de Musique” in Rome, he pursued a solo career that took him all over Europe, United States and Japan (where he was guest professor of piano at Kobé College from 2003 to 2006).
Serguei Milstein can be heard at international festivals such as “Le Printemps de Prague” and “L’Automne de Moravie”, as well as at La Roque d’Anthéron and La Folle Journée de Nantes.

Serguei Milstein has been teaching piano at the Geneva Conservatoire since 2008. He regularly gives masterclasses in France, Italy and Japan.
