Damiano Pisanello, born in 1990, began his musical career in Geneva with Miguel Charosky. He then studied in Pablo Márquez’s class at the Hochschule für Musik in Basel, where he obtained a Master’s degree in pedagogy and a Master’s degree in solo performance. He expanded his repertoire by studying romantic guitar at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Peter Croton and completed his training at the Segovia Academy in Pordenone with Paolo Pegoraro.

Damiano Pisanello has won numerous awards, including first prizes at the Antony International Competition (France, 2019), the Claxica International Competition (Italy, 2017) and the Seville International Competition (Spain, 2016).

He also won second prize at the Forum Gitarre Wien (Austria, 2020), third prize at the Tokyo International Competition (Japan, 2019), third prize at the José Tomás Villa de Petrer Competition (Spain, 2019), second prize at the Ciudad de Coria Competition (Spain, 2019), third prize at the Markneukirchen International Instrumental Competition (Germany, 2019) and second prize at the Budapest International Competition (Hungary, 2018).

Damiano Pisanello regularly gives concerts internationally. As a soloist, he has performed with the Basel and Zurich chamber orchestras. Passionate about contemporary music, he explores a new and daring repertoire through his guitar quartet Hoax. In 2018, he recorded his first album, Orphenica Lyra, with the Contrastes Records label.
