Kyung Sun Lee is one of Korea’s leading violinists and an internationally acclaimed artist whose career has been shaped by success in the world’s most prestigious violin competitions. She is a prizewinner of the Tchaikovsky International Competition, Queen Elisabeth International Competition, Washington International Competition, and the Montreal International Music Competition, achievements that firmly established her on the international stage.

She has held distinguished faculty positions at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and Seoul National University, and currently serves as the Dorothy Richard Starling Chair in Violin Studies at the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University, where she is widely respected for her artistic leadership and dedication to the next generation of musicians.

An active and sought-after pedagogue, Lee has taught at major international summer festivals including the Aspen Music Festival and School, Bowdoin International Music Festival, and the Heifetz International Music Institute. She is also regularly invited to serve on juries for leading international competitions, among them the Queen Elisabeth Competition, Singapore International Violin Competition, Max Rostal International Competition, and the Joseph Joachim International Violin Competition.

Lee received her musical training at Seoul National University, the Peabody Conservatory, and The Juilliard School, where she studied with legendary pedagogues Sylvia Rosenberg, Robert Mann, and Dorothy DeLay, whose influence continues to shape her artistic and pedagogical approach.
As a performer, she has appeared as a soloist with orchestras such as the North Czech Philharmonic, Sofia Philharmonic, and the Stuttgart Orchestra, and has given recitals and masterclasses throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. Her performances are admired for their intellectual depth, refined musicianship, and compelling expressiveness.
Kyung Sun Lee performs on a 1723 Joseph Guarnerius violin and is the Artistic Director of the Seoul Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra, through which she remains deeply committed to chamber music and to fostering artistic excellence both in Korea and internationally.
