
Passionate about teaching from a young age, Junko is currently an Artistic Education Teacher (PEA) and accompanist at the CRR in Lyon.
She also teaches piano accompaniment and performs with Andvision Tokyo. She works regularly with the Lyon Oratorio Choir and Musicalta.
A graduate of the National University of Japan in Utsunomiya (Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees) in music education, Junko also holds a diploma in music teaching for middle and high schools. She began teaching piano, music theory, composition, etc. while continuing her studies.
Junko Fukuda-Gros participated in the piano course at the Hochschule in Vienna (Austria) in Alexander Jenner’s class and has won several piano competitions.
She continued her studies at the Tokyo University of the Arts, where she obtained a Master’s degree in musicology (specialising in music theory) and then became an assistant professor of music theory.
She perfected her piano skills with Akiko Kitagawa and her music theory with Tatsuya Hayashi and Laurent Teycheney.
She also joined the piano accompaniment class at the CNSMD in Lyon, where she graduated with unanimous approval in Michel Tranchant’s class.
Junko Fukuda-Gros gives numerous solo piano concerts and also performs as a soloist with orchestras, in chamber music ensembles and with choirs. Keen to share her art and bring high-quality music to local residents, she has created a series of concerts featuring young talent in her hometown.
Junko Fukuda-Gros founded the “triO+” (piano, euphonium and tuba), with which she gives numerous concerts and master classes, particularly in Japan and France.
Since arriving in France, she has worked as an accompanist in numerous institutions, including the CNSMD and the CRR in Lyon.
She also held the position of accompanist at the PESM in Burgundy (formerly ESM) for seven years. At the same time, she was regularly engaged by the Opéra Théâtre de Saint Etienne, the Chœur Emelthée, etc. before her appointment to the CRR in Lyon in 2019.
As a volunteer for the NGO “Pour un Sourire d’Enfant” (For a Child’s Smile), Junko Fukuda-Gros organises a series of charity concerts entitled “Prélude à un sourire” (Prelude to a Smile) at the Salle Molière in partnership with the CNSMDL and the CRR in Lyon.
