Uta Christina Georg comes from a family of musicians. She studied piano and singing in her hometown of Cologne. Her regular engagements and tours have taken her to the Hessisches Staatstheater in Wiesbaden and the opera houses of Bonn, Braunschweig, the German Rhine Opera, the Aalto-Theater in Essen, Frankfurt, Halle, Osnabrück, Kiel, Koblenz and Wuppertal. She has been engaged in Egypt, Israel, Japan and at the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires.
In almost twenty-five years of vocal activity, Uta Christina Georg has performed over 40 roles in some thirty operas, including all the major roles in her speciality, such as Hänsel, Dorabella (Cosi fan tutte), Charlotte (Werther) , Dido (Dido and Aeneas) , Komponist (Ariadne auf Naxos), Eboli (Don Carlos) and Carmen.
In addition to her love of baroque opera, romantic lieder and the concert repertoire, this versatile artist is also a keen interpreter of new music (examples include ‘Der Universums-Stulp’ in Wuppertal in 2014 and the lead role in Ella Milch-Sheriff’s ‘Baruchs Schweigen’ in 2015, recorded by BR).
Uta Christina Georg has performed the role of ‘Carmen’ in many different theatres, most recently in 2016/2017 at the Theater Hof. Her current repertoire includes Mary from Alban Berg’s ‘Wozzeck’ as well as the great Italian repertoire. In the 2019/2020 season, she was once again on the stage of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein as Valkyrie. It was the sixth Ring production in which she took part Since 2012, Uta Christina Georg has taught singing at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln (HfMT) in Cologne, Germany.
Since October 2022, Uta Christina Georg has been a lecturer for special positions in the field of singing at the HfMT. In 2021 and 2022, she published ‘Gesangsschule des 21. Jahrhunderts’, Volumes I and II, and in August 2022 ’Rundum stimmig! – Ein Trainingsbuch für Stimme, Sprechen und Wirkung’ published by Junfermann. Volume III of ‘Gesangsschule – Klassik für Profis’ is published in summer 2023.
In addition, the short film ‘KomponistInnen – weibliche Kreativität im Wandel der Zeit’ (Composers – female creativity over time), published in summer 2022, features six songs by female composers from three centuries ago, recorded by Uta Christina Georg. The general idea, the concept and part of the staging are also the responsibility of the artist.
