She then went on to perfect her skills in Paris with Luben Yordanoff (concertmaster of the Orchestre de Paris).  She also studied viola in Basel with Max Lesueur and later with Fiodor Droujinine in Moscow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A renowned chamber musician, Christine S\u00f6rensen has performed for many years in Switzerland and abroad. For ten years she was the violist with the Ensemble Ad Musicam Neuch\u00e2tel, and has given numerous recitals with pianist Paulette Zanlonghi. Her collaboration with the renowned flutist Brigitte Buxtorf has been very fruitful for many years: concerts, tours (in India in particular) and recordings.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Christine S\u00f6rensen has also performed as soloist with a number of orchestras, including the Biel Symphony Orchestra and the Neuch\u00e2tel Chamber Orchestra.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A renowned teacher, she taught violin and viola in professional classes at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne (HEMU) from 1984 to 2017. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the same time, she was very concerned about teaching music to young people, and from 1993 onwards, for over 20 years, she co-organised the famous Schubertiades des Enfants in Lutry and Pully, a music festival bringing together all the music schools in the canton of Vaud.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Numerous students have obtained their Teaching and Concert Diplomas in her class. Several of them have gone on to play in orchestras in Switzerland and abroad, and teach at various schools and conservatoires.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Christine Sorensen is a regular guest on the juries of several conservatoires.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Christine Sorensen has recorded several CDs, notably with Brigitte Buxtorf: Viola and Flute in 2005, W.A. Mozart 4 Quartets for flute and strings in 2007. She recorded new CDs in October 2009: \u2018Oc\u00e9ans d&#8217;Eric Gaudibert\u2019 with the creation of \u2018Dit d&#8217;Elle\u2019 for solo viola and in 2010: \u2018Contralto\u2019 Duos for 2 violas, with Nadia Rigolet Neves, a former student, with En Face.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since 2022, she has been a guest teacher of viola and chamber music at the Musicalta summer academy in Rouffach, Alsace.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n<span class=\"et_bloom_bottom_trigger\"><\/span>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Born in Neuch\u00e2tel (Switzerland), Christine S\u00f6rensen studied violin at the Musik Akademie in Basel with Alexandre Z\u00f6ldy (Vegh Quartet) and then with Ayla Erduran at the Lausanne Conservatoire, where she was awarded a 1st Prize for Virtuosity.
