<\/a>Aldo Baerten is Principal Flute at the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra conducted by Elin Cham, Edo de Waart and Philippe Herreweghe.<\/p>\nIn 2013 he was Professor at the Conservatory (University) of Sydney (Australia)
In 2015\/16 he teaches at the Musikhochschule M\u00fcnster (Germany) and from 2016 at the Musikhochschule f\u00fcr Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover (Germany).
From April 2018, he teaches at the Musikhochschule K\u00f6ln \/ Aachen and Trinity Laban Conservatory in London from November 2018.<\/p>\n
He is a professor at the Royal Conservatory (High School of Music) in Antwerp, and also at the Conservatory (Hogeschool der Kunsten) in Utrecht, and he gives masterclasses on 4 continents, among others at the Royal Academy of London.<\/p>\n
He has been invited to the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Arctic Philharmonic, European Union Opera (G. Roshdentvensky), Hall\u00e9 Orchestra (UK) and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.<\/p>\n

During his studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, with the Prof. Peter-Lukas Graf at Basel Conservatory where he obtained the Soloist Diploma, and with Philippe Boucly (R.Strauss-Konservatorium M\u00fcnchen), he won prizes at the Maria Canals (Barcelona), Vienna, Axion Classics, Young Talents, Quantz and National Instruments.
He has also received the Alex de Vries, SABAM, Pelemans and Caecilia Awards (Belgian Music Press Award).<\/p>\n
He has played as a soloist with prestigious orchestras such as S\u00fcdwestdeutsches Kammerorchester, RSO Basel, National Orchestra of Belgium, Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra of Flanders, Kansas City Symphony, Samai Sinfonietta … under the direction of D. Stern, V. Czarniecki, P. Rundel, G. Octors, Z. Nagy, T. Yuasa, S. Byess, E. Aadland, S. M\u00e4kkil\u00e4, R. Wilson…<\/p>\n
Aldo Baerten is a regular guest at festivals in Europe, Mexico, Russia and the United States, accompanied by J.van Dam, Martin Helmchen, Severin von Eckardstein, F. Orval, W. Boeykens, J.Cl. Van den Eynden, Mr. Lethiec, Storioni Trio, Martin Spangenberg, Herv\u00e9 Joulain, Niek de Groot, Michel Strauss, Alexei Ogrintchouk, Kandinsky-trio, Jana Bouskova, Anneleen Lenaerts, Dietrich Henschel, Matthias Buchholz, Jef Neve …..<\/p>\n
He has recorded for Pentatone, Cypres, Phaedra, ECM, Royale Belge and Beriato labels.
His recording of F. Schubert Variations Trockne Blumen with German pianist Martin Helmchen was nominated for Best Recording of the Year by BBC Music Magazine in 2010.<\/p>\n
From 1989 to 1993, Aldo Baerten was flute-solo of the European Union Orchestra, where he played under the direction of C. Abbado, B. Haitink, V. Ashkenazy, V. Neumann, J. Conlon and J Tate.
He was also chosen as Flute-Solo of the Schleswig Holstein Festival Orchestra (Sir G. Solti) and the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra.<\/p>\n
He was Flute-Solo at the Belgium Chamber Orchestra, as well as at the MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig.<\/p>\n
Aldo Baerten is a regular jury member of the Axion Classics Competition, Lyons, Flutonicon International Flute Competition, NFA Young Concert Artists, Biwako Japan and Yamaha-Music Foundation.
Several of his former students hold positions in orchestras and conservatories in Belgium and abroad.<\/p>\n
