From 1970 to 1975, he attended the Special School for Music in Weimar. In 1975, he received a diploma at the Bach Competition for Young People.<br \/>From 1975 to 1980, he studied in the master class of Professor Fritz Ehlers and Peter Krebs in Weimar. During his studies, gave solo and chamber music performances in Hungary and Georgia.    <\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From 1980, he became a member of the Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra, where he was second and first deputy concertmaster from 1984 to 1992. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 1985, he was a soloist on the RSO Leipzig&#8217;s tour of West Germany. He also gave solo performances with this orchestra at the Leipzig Gewandhaus. From 1986 to 2005, he was second violinist in the Hartmann Quartet Leipzig, with which he gave numerous radio concerts and recordings, performed at Leipzig City Hall concerts, the MDR Musiksommer, and in France and Austria.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hans-Werner Mehling took part in the Philips Mozart Edition CD recording KV 90 with the RSO and Leipzig Radio Choir. He also performed chamber music with Gy\u00f6rgy Garay, Torsten Janicke, Justus Frantz, and Karl Suske. In 1989\/90, he co-founded the German Chamber Orchestra Berlin, giving solo performances with the ensemble.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From 2007 to 2014, he was director of the Leipzig Chamber Symphony (members of the MDR Symphony Orchestra) \u2013 collaborating with artists such as Antje Weithaas, Daniel Stabrawa (Berlin Philharmonic), Antoine Tamestit, and Lise de Lasalle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He took on the role of concertmaster for H\u00e4nssler CD recordings with the Leipzig Chamber Symphony of the MDR Symphony Orchestra. He performed as concertmaster in various Leipzig ensembles, delivering many violin solos by Johann Sebastian Bach at St. Thomas Church. He also accompanied chamber orchestra tours as concertmaster, collaborating with Peter Schreier and Thomaskantor Georg Christoph Biller.<br \/>  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a lecturer, he has contributed to various youth and student projects, including the Saxony State Youth Orchestra and the Jerusalem Weimar Student Orchestra.<br \/>He has been a guest performer with Musica Nova and Sinfonietta Leipzig at the Gewandhaus Leipzig. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since 2011, Hans-Werner Mehling has been a violin lecturer at the HMT Leipzig and serves as a jury member for competitions and numerous university examinations. He is responsible for string recitals and the violin solo series \u201cCaprice um 2\u201d at the Leipzig University of Music and Theatre, and also lectures on the promotion of young talent at the HMT Leipzig. His students perform in orchestras across Europe, China, and Japan.
