At the age of 16, he entered the Conservatoire National Sup\u00e9rieur de Musique de Paris in the class of Jean-Marie Gamard. He graduated three years later with a first prize in cello and a first prize in chamber music. He then went on to study at the Conservatoire National Sup\u00e9rieur de Musique de Lyon in the class of Yvan Chiffoleau and took master classes with Janos Starker, Roland Pidoux and Siegfried Palm.   <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A prizewinner in several international competitions, in 1994 he won the \u2018Prague Spring\u2019 international competition, as well as three special prizes: the prize for interpretation of contemporary works, the \u2018Prague Spring\u2019 foundation prize and the donation of a cello.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He has since appeared as soloist with the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse, the Toulouse Chamber Orchestra, the Prague Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Pardubice Philharmonic Orchestra, the Josef Suk Chamber Orchestra and the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra. with whom he has performed concertos by Haydn, Dvor\u00e0k, St Sa\u00ebns, Strauss, Brahms, Schostakovitch and Lalo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2005, under the musical direction of Kurt Masur, he was appointed super solo cellist with the Orchestre National de France.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A passionate chamber musician, he has taken part in numerous festivals alongside Hugues Borsarello, Lise Bertaud, Svetlin Roussef, Sarah and Deborah Nemtanu, Eric Lesage, Mara Dobresco, Daishin Kashimoto and Frank Braley.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">His recordings include Claude Debussy&#8217;s Sonata with Laurent Wagshal at the piano, and Henri Dutilleux&#8217;s three strophes sur le nom de Sacher, recorded in the presence of the master as part of the \u2018Sonates d&#8217;Automne\u2019 festival. For the \u2018la dolce volta\u2019 label, he recorded two Brahms sonatas with pianist Geoffroy Couteau, winning a Choc Classica 2020. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After working as an assistant at the Conservatoire National Sup\u00e9rieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (Jean-Marie Gamard&#8217;s class), Rapha\u00ebl Perraud is currently Professor at the CRR &#8211; Conservatoire \u00e0 Rayonnement R\u00e9gional de Paris.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n<span class=\"et_bloom_bottom_trigger\"><\/span>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Born into a family of musicians, Rapha\u00ebl Perraud began studying the cello at the age of five at the Conservatoire de Valence.
