In August 2006 he was honoured for the best concert of the week at the &#8220;Edinburgh Festival&#8221; for his performance of &#8220;Des canyons aux \u00e9toiles &#8230;&#8221; by O. Messiaen with an Angel-award.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Benjamin Kobler has been a pianist with the Ensemble Musikfabrik (Cologne) since December 2007.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Numerous CD recordings and radio recordings document the versatile activities of the pianist, notably at the Online Label Musikfabrik.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He is the premiere interpreter and dedicatee of numerous piano solo pieces (Ablinger, Baltakas, Brass, Finnendahl, Haddad, Kagel, Pousseur, Stockhausen, v.d. Aa) and is happy to commission new works; currently a new Piano-Study by Unsuk Chin and a piano piece (&#8220;Nuss&#8221;) by Enno Poppe are awaiting their premi\u00e8re.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Benjamin Kobler studied at the conservatories of Cologne and Karlsruhe and at the Conservatoire de Paris with Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Georges Pludermacher and Carmen Piazzini. He also owed decisive impulses from new music chamber music class of Peter E\u00f6tv\u00f6s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a friendly collaboration with Karlheinz Stockhausen that lasted 10 years, Benjamin Kobler acquired almost all of Stockhausen&#8217;s solo piano works as well as Kontakte, Mantra, Schlagtrio and Kreuzspiel. Many of these exemplary performances are documented on CD. Moreover, he is dedicatee and premi\u00e8re performer of the last piano solo pieces &#8211; &#8220;NAT\u00dcRLICHE DAUERN&#8221; &#8211; by Karlheinz Stockhausen.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He enjoys passing on his experience in teaching activities, such as regular seminaries for contemporary music at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana (Lugano), a yearly Master-Class at the Stockhausen Stockhausen Courses (K\u00fcrten), piano courses at the University of C\u00f3rdoba (Argentina) and as a lecturer in the Master&#8217;s programme for New Music at the Folkwang University (Essen).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since 2023 he has been appointed Piano Professor (New Music) at the Robert-Schumann-Hochschule in D\u00fcsseldorf.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2005 he was a jury member of the Gaudeamus Competition for Interpreters (Amsterdam).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Benjamin Kobler lives with his wife, the Argentinian pianist Laura Alvarez, and their three children in Cologne.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n<span class=\"et_bloom_bottom_trigger\"><\/span>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The pianist Benjamin Kobler is a sought-after interpreter of works by Kurt\u00e1g, Lachenmann, Ligeti, Messiaen and Stockhausen and made his fame as a passionate advocate of contemporary music.
