A student of Brigitte Engerer, Jean Koerner and Christian Ivaldi, he obtained four premiers prix (piano, chamber music, piano accompaniment, harmony) at the Conservatoire National Sup\u00e9rieur de Musique de Paris. <br \/>He went on to win prizes at several international competitions (Lyon, the ARD-Musikwetteberb in Munich, Trieste, the International Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna) as both soloist and chamber musician. Jonas Vitaud continues to give performances in recital and appears regularly at numerous famous festivals in Europe and throughout the world as la Roque d&#8217;Anth\u00e9ron, La Folle Journ\u00e9e in Nantes, Tokyo, Yekaterinburg and Warsaw, the Festival de La Chaise-Dieu, the Goslar festival, the Richard Strauss Festival at Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany, Autunno Musicale at Caserta in Italy, iDans in Istanbul, the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, and French May in Hong Kong, and has also performed at the Phillips Collection in Washington.<\/p>\n<p>Jonas Vitaud has appeared as a soloist with such orchestras as the Mulhouse Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre du Capitole and Chamber Orchestra of Toulouse, the Sinfonia Varsovia, the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, the Munich Radio Orchestra and the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra.<\/p>\n<p>He also accords a privileged place to chamber music. Among the artists with whom he performs are the singers Karine Deshayes, Sumi Hwang and Yumiko Tanimura, the cellists Victor Julien-Laferrie\u0300re and Christian-Pierre La Marca, the violist Adrien La Marca, the pianist Adam Laloum, the clarinettist Raphae\u0308l Se\u0301ve\u0300re, the violinist Mi-Sa Yang and the Quatuor Zai\u0308de.<\/p>\n<p>An enthusiastic champion of contemporary music, Jonas Vitaud has worked with creative masters such as Henri Dutilleux, Thierry Escaich, Gyo\u0308rgy Kurta\u0301g, Philippe Hersant and Yann Robin. These encounters, notably at the festival in Cordes-sur-Ciel, have given him an opportunity to tackle the great diversity of current musical trends and to develop his imaginative world.<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, Jonas Vitaud releases a Beethoven disc on MIRARE &#8211; through a choice of works (composed in 1802 \u2013 Heilignestadt testament\u2019s year), he put into perspective the underlying despair of the \u2018Tempest\u2019 Sonata, the calming of Opp.33 and 34, and the flamboyant optimism of the \u2018Eroica\u2019 Variations.<br \/>In 2019, Jonas Vitaud releases on MIRARE and ALPHA CLASSICS, two albums one with Mi-Sa Yang dedicated to the Mozart\u2019s piano and violin sonatas and the other to the Russian repertoire with the cellist Victor Julien-Laferri\u00e8re.<br \/>In 2018, for the Debussy centennial, Jonas Vitaud released a double album on the Mirare label, devoted to the composer\u2019s early years, an original, ambitious project presenting ill-known aspects of Debussy\u2019s universe. <br \/>His first solo recording, a Brahms programme, was released on Orchid Classics and [was] warmly received by the critics (Supersonic Pizzicato award, 4* in BBC Music Magazine, etc.). In 2016 he released a Tchaikovsky disc on Mirare \u2013 The Seasons and the Grand Sonata, Op.37 \u2013 which was awarded \u20185 de Diapason\u2019.<br \/>His solo album of music by Dutilleux and Liszt on NoMadMusic was also crowned with critical success and received the Grand Prize for Solo Instrumental Recording of the Acade\u0301mie Charles Cros as well as \u2018Choc de Classica\u2019 and \u20185 de Diapason\u2019. He gave numerous tribute concerts devoted to Henri Dutilleux during the year of his centenary in 2016, notably at the Limoges Opera, the Vichy Opera, the national theatres of Douai and Arras, and in London.<\/p>\n<p>Jonas Vitaud has taught at the Paris National Conservatory (CNSMDP) since 2013. From 2022\/2023, he became a titular piano professor.
