He began studying piano at the age of three and violin with his mother the following year. After being admitted to the Conservatoire National de R\u00e9gion de Paris in 2000 in violin, piano and harmony, he decided in 2002 to devote himself to a single instrument: the piano.<\/p>\n<p>Pierre-Kaloyann was trained by the Lithuanian pianist Muza Rubackyt\u00e9 and participated in master classes given by great piano masters such as Gy\u00f6rgy Seb\u00f6k, Sergio Perticaroli, Bruno Rigutto, Klaus Hellwig and Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Heisser.<\/p>\n<p>In June 2007, he graduated with highest honours from the Conservatoire National Sup\u00e9rieur de Musique de Paris, where he studied with Brigitte Engerer and Alain Plan\u00e8s for four years. He also studied conducting with Fran\u00e7ois-Xavier Roth and musical analysis with Claude Ledoux.<\/p>\n<p>In 2007 he founded the Atanassov Trio with violinist Perceval Gilles and cellist Sarah Sultan. The trio has won prizes at the world&#8217;s major international chamber music competitions, performed throughout Europe and recorded three CDs devoted to French and Czech music. The latest, Bohemian Rhapsodies (Dvo\u0159\u00e1k \/Suk), was released in 2022 on the Paraty label.<\/p>\n<p>When he is not performing with his trio, Pierre-Kaloyann Atanassov shares the stage with other artists such as cellist Olivia Gay, violinist Svetlin Roussev, violists Manuel Vioque-Judde and L\u00e9a Hennino, clarinettist Shelly Ezra and soprano Cl\u00e9mentine Decouture&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>In addition to his concert activities, Pierre-Kaloyann is a qualified pedagogue and teaches piano at the Conservatoire de Vannes in Brittany.
