danel-marcMarc Danel studied violin at Lille régional Conservatory – CRR – in France with professor Jezdimir Vujicic and then he improved with José Pingen in Bruxelles and Igor Ozim at Cologne Musikhochschule.

He is the founder and first violin of Danel string quartet since 1991. He played regularly with Amadeus and Borodine quartets and also with such musician as Walter Levin, Fiodor Droujinine, Hugh Maguire and Pierre Penassou. Marc Danel is winner of International Competition such as London (United Kingdom), St Petersbourg ( Russia), Evian (France) and Florence (italy).

Since his debut with the Quartet, Marc Danel has played regularly in the most European prestigious halls such as Amsterdam Concertgebouw, London Wigmore Hall, Frankfurt Alte Oper, Paris Salle Gaveau, Moscou Conservatory…He also played in United States, Canada, Japan, China, in Taiwan, Russia, Central Asia and in South America. Each year, he collaborates with the Chile Youth Orchestra for concerts and master-classes.

Danel Quartet has more than 30 recordings to its credit, and reveals itself as a openned toward creation and the world, collaborating with many composers ; Rihm, Lachenmann, Mantovani, Dusapin, Gubaïdulina, Mernier, Fafchamps…

Marc Danel is artistic director of Nederlandse Strijkkwartet Akademie (Amsterdam), from which numerous students have been winners in prestigious international competitions. He is violin professor at Lyon Conservatoire (CNSMD). Marc Danel also works as a violin professor at The Music and Education Higher School of Namur (Belgium). He gives Master-classes at London Royal College and also at Minsk Conservatory (Belarus). He has been in residence with the Danel Quartet at Manchester University (UK) since 2005.
