In the heart of the city

Lyon is the 2nd cultural city in France (Arts Journal) right after Paris. Lyon is famous for its excellent institutions (orchestra, opera, theater) and its museums such as “Musée des Confluences”, “Musée d’Art Contemporain”, “Musée de la Résistance”, “Musée Gallo-Romain” and the “Institut Lumière”…

 

The master classes will take place in different location in Lyon. In 2019, the main locations will be the Museum of printing, the Museum of fine fabrics and the Saint-Irénée house.

Lugdunum museum

The Museum and the Lyon-Fourvière site are situated on Fourvière Hill, formerly at the center of Lugdunum, where two of the city’s major monuments were erected : the Theatre and the Odeon, which have been classified among UNESCO’s World Heritage sites.

Saint-Irénée House

This listed house designed by Soufflot in the 18th century overlooks the hill of Saint-Irénée with a beautiful view of the South of Lyon and the Alps.

Museum of printing

Created by the master-printer Maurice Audin in 1964, the collection of the Museum of Printing and Graphic Communication reflects the evolution from traditional techniques to those of digital age.

Museum of Fine Fabrics and Museum of Decorative Arts

The Textile Museum has 2000 years of history of textiles (the first collection in the world) and the Museum of Decorative Arts is one of the few museums in France atmosphere.

The Textile Museum provides the profound history of the Lyon silk trade going back to the Renaissance period. Rare Persian rugs, Coptic tapestries and silk from Spain and Italy.

In the museum of decorative arts, the visitors were invited into the home of a wealthy 18th century family.
