Giampiero Sobrino
Giampiero Sobrino graduated with maximum grades at the Conservatory of Alessandria. Thanks to his marked musical technical ability he is immediately recommended for important international competitions in Genova, Rome, Ancona, Palmi, Turin, Stresa, Martigny, Colmar and Paris. At 20 years of age he was already first solo clarinet in the RAI Symphonic Orchestra of Turin and in the Philharmonic Orchestra of the same city, an assignment covered uninterruptedly until 1994. In the successive 10yrs he attended the Foundation Orchestra of the Arena of Verona. He has actively followed a master class as orchestra director and of fenomenology of music with Maestro Carlo Maria Giulini e Serghiu Celibidache. His intense musical activity has consented him to collaborate with the greatest directors of our time of which, Solti, Bernstein, Giulini, Levine, Rostropovic, Maazel, Temirkanov, De Burgos, Muti, Sawallich, Mehta, Chailly, Sinopoli and with composers such as, Berio, Boulez, Donatoni and Bussotti. He was chosen by G. Bertini to cover the role of first solo clarinet in the Philharmonic Orchestra of Lisbon and by Celibidache for an important International tournee with the Schleswig-Holstein Orchestras. His immense repertoire has taken him as solo clarinet to the most important International musical festivals; Biennale of Venezia e Zagabria, Festival Mozart of Praga, Settembre Musicale of Torino, Festival d’Automne di Parigi, Panatenee, Festival of Alicante and of Aix-en-Provence, Samobor and Alba Music Festival, International Festival of the Arts of New York and St. Petersburg Palaces, River Concert of Maryland, Schoenberg Cententer of Vienna and the symphonic season of Roma (RAI, Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti e Palazzo Lateranense), Zagabria (Vatroslav Lisinski Hall e Orchestra da Camera Croata), Napoli (Maggio Musicale), Padova (Solisti Veneti), National Orchestra of Canada, L’Aquila (Solisti Aquilani), Bangkok (Thailand Philharmonic), Verona (Teatro Filarmonico), San Pietroburgo (State Ermitage Orchestra), Salerno (Teatro Verdi), Montecarlo (Orchestra da Camera), Trieste e Pordenone (Teatro Verdi), Torino (RAI e Orchestra Filarmonica), Reggio Calabria (Teatro Cilea) playing Mozart, Salieri, Mercadante, Donizetti, Ponchielli, Weber, Rossini, Strauss, Debussy, Copland, Finzi, Berio, Shaw, Bernstein and the first performances of Vacchi, Colla, and Galante. He actively taught in the State Conservatory in the school of high musical perfection of Saluzzo and in Master Classes in Italy, France, Spain and Canada, cooperating with a formation for an intense activity of concerts and recordings of chamber music. |
