Roberto Metro
Born in Messina in Italy, Roberto Metro obtained
his piano diploma in Messina Conservatory with distinction and a special
mention, studying under the guidance of Sonja Pahor. He perfected his studies
with Maria Tipo and Eliodoro Sollima, which whom he also studied
composition. From a very early age he was a prize-winner in
several international piano competitions and thus started on a brilliant
career. Roberto Metro is regulary invited in major cities
all over the world: New York, Washington, London, Paris, Tokyo, Mexico City,
Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Brussels, Athens, Rome, Madrid,
Barcelona, Amsterdam, Prague, Budapest, Stockholm, Helsinki, St Petersburg,
Bucharest, Munich, etc. In 2006, during his tour in United States, Roberto
Metro performed at Carnegie Hall in New York. He has performed as a soloist with important
orchestras including the String Orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan,
Slovenian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra, the "London Musical Arts" String
Orchestra, the Budapest "Camerata Transsylvanica", the Linz "Camerata
Austriaca" Orchestra, the San Luis Potosí - Mexico Symphony Orchestra...wich
such conductors as Anton Nanut, Urs Schneider, Juan Rodríguez Romero, Ovidiu
Balan, Adrian Sunshine, Valentin Doni, Jaroslav Vodňanský, Gabriele Ferro,
Massimo Pradella and Piero Toso. He has made recordings for numerous radio and
television corporations all over the world. Roberto Metro has recorded a CD of the complete
Chopin waltzes for the Italian Discographic Institute and, for the Musikseminar
of Munich, a CD containing waltzes, polkas and marches by the Strauss family in
his own transcriptions for four hands at the piano. |
