Sébastien Giot
Son of a famous French oboe teacher and born in
Perpignan in 1978, Sebastien Giot began his musical studies by learning
simultaneously violin and oboe. He graduated in this two different instrumental
cursus in 1995 in oboe and 1996 in violin. One year later he integrated the
oboe class of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon where he
received the teaching of Jean-Christophe Gayot, soloist of the Orchestre
Philharmonique de Radio-France and Guy Laroche, soloist of the Orchestra
National de Lyon. While Sébastien Giot still continued learning
violin in Lyon with Jean Lenert and Francis Duroy, he finished his musical
superior studies receiving the highest honours, the Diplôme National d'Etudes
Supérieures Musicales and the 1st oboe price. In the same time, the city of Strasbourg
integrated this twenty years old oboe player as solo-oboist of the Orchestre
National Philharmonique, and chose him to be the oboe teacher of the
Conservatoire National de Région. Two years later the Ministère de la Culture
certificated Giot with the national teaching diploma. Then Sébastien Giot decided to start the national
and international oboe competitions and won several prices: first prices in
Paris (UFAM competition) and Italy ( "Giuseppe Tomassini" oboe competition ),
second price at the international oboe competition in Toulon, third price at
the Tokyo international oboe competition and won the first price at the
"European Young Concerts Artist". As the only woodwind player selected for the
final round, Giot received the second price at the "International Young
Concerts Artists" in New York. Sébastien Giot played already as a soloist
performer with the European Camerata, the Czetochova Philharmonic Orchestra,
the Camerata de France, and the Provence Alpes Côte d'Azur Orchestra. With the
Perpignan Languedoc Roussillon Orchestra he made the world premiere of the
Claude Ballif's Concerto pour hautbois. Giot also played in several music
chamber formations, including the Erasme woodwind quintet with other soloist
from the Orchestre National Philharmonique de Strasbourg. |
