Nathalie Geoffray-Canavesio

Nathalie Geoffray began her violin studies with Roger Germser at Lyon National Conservatory (CRR) and then in Jacques Ghestem and Alexandre Stajic class at Lyon Superior Conservatory (CNSMD) where she obtained a First Prize unanimously for the interpretation of Berio Sequenza.

She pursued her studies with Nejmi Succari.

She also studied baroque violin with Simon Heyerick and jazz with François Vuillemier.

She played on Intarnational stages with the Symphonique European Orchestra and the Europe Chamber Orchestra under the direction of prestigious conductor such as Claudio Abbado, Yehudi Menuhin, Murray Perahia or Rudolf Serkin.

In 1986, she became solo violin at Lyon Opera Orchestra under John Eliott Gardiner conducting.

The same year, she founded the Ravel Strind Quartett and became the solo violin for 9 years.

She improved with the Pro Quartett association under the direction of famous String Quartett such as Amadeus, Alban Berg, Julliard quartet and she played with Fine Arts quartet and Martin Lovett.

Nathalie Geoffray played all over the world with the Ravel Quartett ; she went in Europe, Australie, Etats-Unis, South America, Japan, China,...

In 1989 the Ravel Quartet wan the Special Paul Tortelier Price in the International Evian Competition and in 1994 the Quartett wan the French Victoire de la musique.

Nathalie Geoffray founded the Ensemble Dumky and she is member of the « Salon de Musique ».

She is also solo violin of the Lausanne Instrumental and Vocal Ensemble, conducted by Michel Corboz and she is regularly invited at Pays de Savoie orchestra.

Nathalie Geoffray is Professor at Lyon National Conservatory – CRR and at Lyon Superior Conservatory – CNSMD.
