Claire Désert

Wherever she plays, Claire Désert touches her public by the grace, depth and humility of her interpretations.

Claire Désert entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris when she was just fourteen years old. After studies with Vensislav Yankoff and Jean Hubeau, she received premiers prix in piano and chamber music. After admission to the postgraduate cycle, she was granted a French goverment scholarship to study of one year with Evgeny Malinin at the Tchaikovsky Conservatoiry in Moscow. Upon her return, she completed a second postgraduate year in chamber music with Roland Pidoux.

In addition to numerous solo appearances at international music festivals such as Radio France Montpellier, La Roque d’Anthéron, Orangerie de Sceaux, Piano aux Jacobins, Piano Lille Festival, Consonances, « Folles Journées » in Nantes, Bilbao, Lisbonne, Tokyo… Claire Désert also frequently performs with a number of celebrated orchestras : Orchestre de Paris, National d’Ile-de-France, Philharmonique de Radio-France, Symphonique de Québec, Philharmonique de Strasbourg, National de Lille, Symphonique de Budapest…

A keen chamber musician, she regularly partners such eminent artists as Emmanuel Strosser, Anne Gastinel, Philippe Graffin, Régis Pasquier, Nemanja Radulovic, Gérard Caussé, as well as the Parisii Quartet, Sine Nomine Quartet, and the Moraguès Quintet.

Her catalogue of recordings is impressive and includes a Schumann recital, the Scriabin and Dvorak concertos with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg (which received a « Victoire de la Musique » in 1997), a Brahms programme for two pianos with Emmanuel Strosser (Virgin), two collaborations with the cellist Anne Gastinel, one dedicated to Schumann, the other to Schubert (Naïve). Claire Désert’s last CD releases include Schumann Davidbündlertänze and one dedicated to Dvorak Slavonic Dances in duo with Emmanuel Strosser both for Mirare.
