Pascal Contet
Considered by international critics to be one of
the principal players in the renaissance of the accordion in France, Pascal
Contet has not only constructed a new repertoire (with works by Ballif,
Bussotti, Cavanna, Drouet, Fénelon, Globokar, Rebotier among others) but breaks
through artistic boundaries , covering improvised and theatrical music (Jean-
Pierre Drouet, Andy Emler, Vinko Globokar, Jacques Rebotier) and participating
in choreographed productions (Stéphanie Aubin, Jean- Claude Gallotta, Angelin
Preljocaj, Loic Tousé and Emmanuelle Huyhn). Frequently a guest of ensembles and symphony
orchestras, he has played under such great conductors as Pierre Boulez, Diego
Masson, Pascal Rophé and Philippe Nahon. He has also received many awards from foundations
(Vocation 89 - President’s Promotion, DAAD, Lavoisier, Menuhin, Cziffra). In
1994, Contet created the concerto for accordion dedicated to him by Jean
Françaix. In 1995 he founded Trio Allers-Retours with
violinist Noëmi Schindler and cellist Christophe Roy le - a testimony to his
liking for chamber music: his album with double basse player Joëlle Léandre (CD
Grave/ Concorde/ Média 7 ref: CDGR 1) will be remembered by all. |
