Dana Ciocarlie
Ciocarlie studied with famous European pianists such as Victoria Melki, Georges Pludermacher or Christian Zacharias. Her experience and her talent were rewarded with numerous prizes in prestigious competitions namely a second prize at the Robert Schumann International Competition in Zwickau, the Sandor Vegh Special Prize at the Geza Anda Competition in Zurich, the Pro Musicis International Prize, the Young Concert Artist European Auditions in Leipzig, and the Ferucio Busoni Competition in Italy. She won the prizes of several foundations including Yvonne Lefébure, Nadia Boulanger, Gyorgy Cziffra and is a much sought-after interpreter of chamber music. An active artist, the prize-winning pianist been playing in North America, Asia and Europe, under the direction of Lawrence Foster, Yoav Talmi, Edmon Colomer. Dana Ciorcarlie plays a wide repertory from Johann Sebastian Bach to contemporary artists. She has made records for the label l’Empreinte Digitale, one devoted to Schubert’s last piano Sonata, a second of Romanian music and a third including Hungarian composers (Bartók, Ligeti, Kurtàg, Eötvös). These records were highly acclaimed by the specialised musical press which recognizes in her the humility of the great. |
