 Karine Zarifian

Carine ZARIFIAN started her piano studies at the CNR of Marseille in Pierre BARBIZET's class and she obtained the first piano prize, the first chamber music and accompaniement prize. Then she entered in Carlos Roqué Alcina's class at the CNSM of Lyon.

In 1993 she won the first great prize and graduated with honors. Then she completed her piano studies and won the second prize of the international 20th century music competition in Sitges (Spain) and the special prize for the best interpretation of Catalan music.

Very attached at the contemporary pieces for piano, she performed the "études from Maurice OHANA" in Marseille in 1988, the Carlos ROQUE ALCINA's piece, Hinterland, for piano, percussions at the Radio France Festival in 1994 and in 2000, the "Makrokosmos" from Georg CRUMB at the today's music Festival in Caen in 2000 and the " Desert Music" from Steve REICH at the Archipel Festival in 2000 (Switzerland)...

carine ZARIFIAN took also part in a retrospective of the Gilbert AMY's music in 2002 as well as in the "études from LIGETI".

Thanks to her meeting with the American violonist, Nurit Pacht, she played in the Gilbert AMY's music, Relative Lights, which took place in Spain, in Canary Isles and in Italy.

Furthermore she accompanied Michel Hermon for the piece entitled "le Voyage d'Hiver" and for the Heinrich HEINE's show (Maison de la Poésie, octobre 2003).

She also performed as a soloist or played chamber music in France or in Europa at the Hambourg NDR (1998),at the Festival of Koblenz in Germany (1996-1999),in Vienna (Austria) with the "Récitals au Palais RAZUMOVSKY"(1996 and 1988), at the Novara Festival in Italy (1999) and at the Fall Festival in Roma (2001). She did a tour for music chamber in Switzerland, Poland, slovenia, Czech Republic.

Recentky she performed with Christophe BEAU all the BEETHOVEN sonata for cello and piano (salle cortot Paris), all the BRAHMS sonata for violin and piano, the "introduction and Allegro Appassionato" from SCHUMANN ( Orchestra of Caen conducted by Marc FOSTER), and the concerto for piano n°2 from RACHMANINOFF and a 20th century music recital in Argentine.

Carine ZARIFIAN graduated in pedagogy at the CNSM of Paris (1998). Now she is teaching piano at the CNR of Caen and at the conservatoire of Paris 13ème.
