Born in a musician family, Stéphane Marcel is quickly attracted by music. After his first musical studies in Reims Conservatory, Stéphane Marcel pursues his studies at Paris CNSMD - Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse - where he obtains two First prizes unanimously, one for alto and the other for chamber music. Then, he improves with a third cycle as a member of string quartet in Paris CNSMD and in Germany at Essen Hochschule. Stéphane Marcel is winner of the Maurice Vieux International competition in Paris. Passionate by chamber music and contemporary music, he is invited to perform concerts in Europe, Argentine, New Zealand and in United States with such artists and groups as ; Christian Ivaldi, Philippe Muller, Pascal Welsh, Vladimir Mendelssohn, Pierre-Henri Xuereb, Jacques Tys, Michel Lethiec, the Ludwig string quartet, the Arpeggione string and the “Ensemble Intercontemporain” with wich he is invited to play regularly. Stéphane Marcel also plays the viola d'amore ; with this instrument, he has been invited to play as a soloist with the Swiss National Orchestra and “ l'Ensemble Orchestral de Paris”. At the same time, he is also teaching viola ; he is professor at Lyon CRR - Conservatoire à rayonnement régional. |
