Professional biography of Vincent Lucas

Vincent LUCAS was born in Nantes (France) in 1967. He began studiying at Clermont-

Ferrand Conservatory at 8 years old. There, he was awarded a Gold Medal in flute in 1981

and later, at Paris CNSM Conservatory (Michel DEBOSTs class) a First Price.

He made his debut as a professional flutist at Orchestre National du Capitol (Toulouse)

in 1984.

In 1989, he joined Berlin Philarmonic Orchestra as second flute and solo piccolo.

Since 1994, Vincent LUCAS has been Fisrt Solo Flute at Orchestre de Paris. He is a

permanent artist and first flute too, within Auvergne Orchestra and a member of Super

World Orchestra (2000-2002)

Vincent LUCAS teaches flute at Paris CNSM, Paris CNR and at Nice Summer International

Academy. He is regularly asked to give masterclasses in France and abroad (Japan, Korea,

Germany, Great-Britain, USA).

He is regularly playing chamber music with musicians such as Xavier PHILIPPS, Olivier

CHARLIER, Paul MEYER, Marielle NORDMANN, Michel LETHIEC, Christoph ESCHENBACH

(Philadelphia, 2003)... as well as with his colleague from the Orchestre de Paris

He is commonly performing as a soloist in France and abroad.

In January 2003, as the world premiere, he gave the Flute Concerto dedicated to him by John

MANDUELL in San Fransisco (USA) under the conducting of Kent Nagano.

In 2004, Vincent Lucas performed in Germany, in San Francisco (USA) and in United Kingdom.

He also performed as a soloist in Japan with the Super world Orchestra and in China where he played the piece « Flute Moon » composed by the Chinese composer Bright Sheng with Paris Orchestra.

In 2005, he was the « godfather » at the Flute Internotes Festival in France (Puy de Dome) where he interpreted the Jolivet Concerto.

He gave also master classes and recitals in Tokyo and Seoul (Korea).

In 2006, Vincent Lucas was member of the jury at the 4th Carl Nielsen International Flute Competition in Danemark.
