Beaudiment
Born in 1978, Julien Beaudiment studied at London Guildhall School of Music with Paul Edmund-Davies and at Paris CNSMD - Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique - where he obtained a First flute Prize in Sophie Cherrier and Vincent Lucas class. He was still studying in Paris when he became first solo flute of the Lyon National Opera Orchestra succeeding at the age of 22 from Philippe Bernold. In 2005, Julien Beaudiment is nominated first solo flute of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, where he will stay until 2006, before coming back to the Lyon Opera. He is the only french flutist having obtained this position in a British orchestra. Julien Beaudiment performed in Europe, North America, Middle and Far East, as a soloist or within many orchestras such as London Symphony Orchestra, Paris Orchestra, Strasbourg Philharmonic Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Ochestra, « Hallé Orchestra », Lausanne Chamber Orchestra... under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas, Ivan Fischer, Colin Davis, Andrew Davies, E. Krivine, E. Pido, Y. Temirkanov, C. Eschenbach, W. Christie, R. Hickocs, M. Elder, P. Berglund, L. Langrée, S. Mintz... In 2004, he is awarded, with his pianist, for the 50th International Barcelona Sonatas Competition. He also plays Bach as a soloist for two years with the famous dancer-choreographer Régine Chopinot, creating the play « Colonne » in Japan and in many countries. Julien Beaudiment's taste for pedagogy leads him to teach at the Lyon CNSMD where he is nominated as Philippe Bernold Assistant Professor since september 2007. He is also Philippe Bernold's assistant during the French Nice International summer academy and teacher at the French-Corean Academy (Fontenay le Comte and Séoul). Julien Beaudiment recorded contemporary works of C. Menesson, and in the flute solos of « Lucie de Lammermoor » with Natalie Dessay (Virgin Classics). |
