Valérie Aimard
Born in Lyon in 1962, Valérie Aimard studied with
Michel Strauss and Philippe Muller in Paris at the CNSMD « Conservatoire
National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse ». She obtained the First Prizes of
cello and chamber music before starting there an improvement cycle. Then, she attended masterclasses with such
cellists as Geringas, Claret or Starker but also with pianists, violonists,
singers or conductors, opening her musical view. Her musical evolution will be
particularly influenced by her meeting in 1992 with the american cellist
Bernard Greenhouse. In 1991, Valerie Aimard is prize winner of the
Maria Canals competition in Barcelona. Then, she won various international cello or
chamber music competition and start a brilliant career, far from any facility
or concession. She performed in more than 20 different countries, playing
récitals, chamber music or as a soloist, and she has the privilege to be
invited several times to play in USA, at the Malboro festival. Open to every age of music, Valérie Aimard gives
the same importance to classical, romantic, rare or contemporary works. Her discography begins in 1996 with the Kodaly
cello sonata (Agon). She is noticed by the french Magazine Diapason as « an
undeniably original artist ». Then she recorded for Lyrinx-Harmonia Mundi:
Mendelssohn work for cello and piano with Pierre-Laurent Aimard and a record of
french music with Cédric Tiberghien (Debussy, Honegger, Chausson, Vierne). Her recordings received the best french awards
(Diapason d'Or, Choc du Monde de la Musique, ffff de Télérama). Valérie Aimard is teaching cello in Paris at the «
Maurice Ravel - Conservatoire du 13ème arrondissement » and in Brussels at the
« Conservatoire Royal ». She is also teaching chamber music at Paris CNSMD
« Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse ». |
